Frequently Asked Questions about Personal Injury in East Windsor, NJ
You can best protect your legal rights and options after being injured in an accident by refraining from providing a statement about the accident or discussing your injuries, at least until you have consulted with an East Windsor personal injury lawyer. Insurance companies often try to use accident victims’ statements against them, cherry-picking parts to justify denying a claim or paying less compensation. Your attorney can advise you as to whether you should talk to the insurance company and help you with your statement, or your attorney can communicate with the insurer on your behalf.
You should not accept an offer from the insurance company until you have first spoken with a personal injury attorney. The initial offer from an insurer will likely not be the full amount of compensation that you deserve for your injuries or losses, or the maximum compensation that the insurance company is willing to pay in your case. Your attorney can review an offer and the facts of your case to advise you if the offer provides fair and full compensation, and can take over negotiations with the insurance company to pursue a higher settlement offer, if possible.
