About Gloucester Township, NJ
Gloucester Township is located in Camden County, New Jersey. Gloucester Township was formed in 1695 and was later incorporated as one of the first 104 townships in New Jersey around the turn of the 19th century. Although originally part of Gloucester County, Gloucester Township became part of the newly-formed Camden County in 1844. Gloucester Township is home to the Gabreil Daveis Tavern House, a pre-Revolutionary War tavern that was later designated as a hospital by George Washington during the Revolution, leading to the building’s other name of The Hillman Hospital House.
Frequently Asked Questions about Criminal Defense in Gloucester Township, NJ
You should immediately speak with an experienced criminal defense attorney. A criminal defense lawyer can quickly get to work investigating your case even before you have been arrested. Your lawyer can also contact the police on your behalf and arrange your surrender so that you avoid the dangers or embarrassment of an arrest, which can occur at your home, your place of work, or anywhere in public. Your lawyer can also help you understand the consequences of an arrest and prepare you for the process that will follow.
Generally, the police are required to obtain a warrant before they may search your home, office, vehicle, or person. However, under certain circumstances, the police may be entitled to conduct a warrantless search, including a search of your person when you are placed under arrest, or a search of your vehicle if the police have probable cause to believe that it contains contraband when a police canine alerts to the presence of drugs. Finally, if the police are lawfully in a place and see contraband, such as weapons or drugs, in plain view they may be able to seize that property. You should contact a criminal defense attorney before consenting to a search of your home or when the police wish to conduct a search pursuant to a warrant.
